In our present American society, although some pastors and evangelists make extravagant salaries or raise huge sums of money to support an excessive lifestyle, ministering brethren for the most part are generally forced to live on far less than those in the secular world. Why shouldn't pastors', evangelists', and missionaries' incomes be comparable to those in the business world? ... ( more)

Here are my 3 rules as a beginner minimalist: 1. Evaluate your possessions that sit on shelves. Think about how often you will realistically need the item. Think about how much it will cost to replace it if needed. Throw/give the stuff away. 2. Find a place for everything. Keys, pots and pans, neck-ties, toothbrushes. It all needs a home. ... ( more)

What do we mean by the words deficit and debt? The deficit reveals whether the government has balanced the budget in any year. Our federal government is addicted to deficits. The federal government has spent more on programs and services than it has collected in taxes thirty-one out of the last thirty-five years. But, don't be fooled by any news headlines boasting about balance the budget. Simply balancing the budget, although it helps not to add to the overall debt, will not solve the long-term financial problems of Social Security and Medicare.
The debt of the ... ( more)

We have the opportunity to give into God's kingdom. We have the privilege of being able to give to help people. It really is a privilege and an opportunity. God doesn't need us. He has an endless supply of finances - He can get the money where it needs to be. But He allows us the chance to be used by Him in the process, knowing that WE will benefit from being used. ... This is a good thing to say when faced with a financial difficulty. It is very difficult to utter those words sometimes, but it is good for us to do so. This isn't an excuse to be lackadaisical with our money, but it is an acknowledgement that there is SO MUCH MORE TO LIFE than money. ... ( more)
